Our Xcelerate CPE Learning Series has kicked off successfully, demonstrating our commitment to fostering a collaborative environment where learning, sharing, and growth thrive.
In September, we held two insightful sessions featuring industry leaders who shared their expertise on critical subjects affecting today’s business environment. Moderated by our own Jim Rollins, President of the Assurance and Tax Services Group, and Barry Thoman, a Vice President in our Assurance Services Group. They facilitated engaging discussions that enriched the learning experience for all attendees.
Kelli Bernstein, a Vice President at Meaden & Moore, set the tone with her engaging Accounting Update, addressing the latest Accounting Standard Updates effective for 2024 and beyond. Kelli equipped attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate the evolving landscape of accounting regulations, ensuring businesses remain compliant and well-prepared for future developments from FASB and PCAOB.
Neil Stallard, CEO of Reserves Network, provided invaluable strategies for building a strong workforce. His practical advice on effective recruitment, screening techniques, and best practices for onboarding and retention resonated with attendees, empowering them to cultivate a talent pool that drives business success in an increasingly competitive landscape.
Cybersecurity remains a pressing concern, and Michael Gerfin, Supervisory Special Agent at the FBI, tackled emerging cyber trends and threats. His discussion on ransomware highlighted the critical need for businesses to recognize red flags related to cyber-enabled fraud, arming attendees with strategies to safeguard their assets against potential attacks.
Stephen W. Luc, Manager at Meaden & Moore, led an engaging session on digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of leveraging data for informed decision-making. His insights into best practices for integrating technology into business strategies provided attendees with actionable steps to enhance operational efficiency and drive growth.
The series continued with further discussions on significant topics, including Ohio Tax Legislation by Greg Saul, Vice President Government Relations at OSCPA, who unpacked the latest regulatory reforms and their implications for businesses.
Christopher Prewitt and Eric Flecher addressed AI-Driven Automation and Workforce Transformation, helping attendees understand the impact of AI on job roles and developing strategies for workforce adaptation.
We also explored Sustainable Finance with Kristi Z. Eberhardt, Managing Director & Head of Sustainable Finance at PNC, who emphasized the importance of environmental disclosures and sustainability initiatives for small and medium-sized companies.
