Happy (Sales Tax) Holidays!

Written by David Harris | Jul 29, 2024 9:31:40 PM

As you may already be aware, Ohio has greatly expanded its annual sales tax holiday for 2024.  In addition to extending the holiday from the usual three days to TEN days (Tuesday, July 30 through Thursday, August 8), they have expanded the types of property that qualify (almost all) and the dollar value limitation per item ($500).

You may have been adjusting for these holidays for years, but this expansion means that you should review all of your sales of property on which you usually collect tax to see if they fall under the exemption.  Likewise, confirm you are not being charged sales tax for the purchase of eligible property. The Ohio Department of Tax FAQ’s related to the sales tax holiday can be found here: https://tax.ohio.gov/help-center/faqs/sales-and-use-tax-sales-tax-holiday/sales+and-use-tax-sales-tax-holiday
